Although most Android gamers download their favorite titles from the Play Store, Xbox is stirring up some excitement with its plans to launch a dedicated mobile gaming store. Recent updates suggest that this new platform is shaping up to be quite compelling.
Xbox’s foray into mobile gaming took a significant step forward after its merger with Activision last year. Recently, an online page related to the Xbox mobile store surfaced, acknowledging participants of the Xbox Insiders program and hinting at an upcoming public release. This suggests that the rollout isn’t too far off. In fact, back in May, Xbox President Sarah Bond mentioned that the Xbox Mobile Store is slated to go live in July 2024. Initially, it will feature popular first-party titles like Candy Crush and Minecraft, although the exact date hasn’t been nailed down yet.
In their latest FY24 Q4 earnings report, Microsoft shared that Xbox boasts 500 million monthly active users across various platforms and devices. CEO Satya Nadella emphasized that their “content pipeline has never been stronger.” The report also highlighted an impressive 61% rise in Xbox content and services revenue, largely thanks to a 58-point net boost from the Activision acquisition.
