Today, Apple rolled out the latest software update for its Vision Pro headset, introducing visionOS 2.4 to the public. This update finally integrates Apple Intelligence capabilities into the headset and comes with a new iPhone companion app, streamlining the experience of using and sharing the device. It also introduces the Spatial Gallery, designed to showcase spatial content specifically for the headset.
Previously, iPhones, iPads, and Macs received Apple Intelligence features back in October 2024, but Vision Pro users were left waiting. Apple had not confirmed whether these capabilities would come to the headset until recently. With the launch of visionOS 2.4, users now gain access to the same suite of intelligence features as other Apple devices. This includes writing aids like proofreading and text summarization, as well as image generation tools such as Image Playground and Genmoji.
One exciting addition is the Spatial Gallery app, which serves as a hub for stereoscopic content curated by Apple. It offers a changing collection of photos and videos, letting users enjoy stories and experiences from well-known names like Red Bull, Cirque du Soleil, and Porsche. It also provides exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at Apple Originals including Severance, The Studio, and The Morning Show, along with conversations featuring artists like Bad Bunny, Charli XCX, and Keith Urban.
In a move reminiscent of the Apple Watch, Vision Pro now has a companion app for iPhone and iPad. This app allows users to explore new apps and entertainment options for the headset without wearing it, offering insights, tips, and key support information like version and serial numbers.
Vision Pro’s ‘Guest Mode,’ a welcome feature for showcasing the device, sees significant enhancements with this update. Working alongside iOS 18.4, the update simplifies starting a Guest Mode session right from an iPhone, removing the need for the headset to be worn initially. Furthermore, remote View Mirroring is now possible, allowing owners to see exactly what their guest is experiencing in real-time, a task that previously required navigating menus in the headset itself.
VisionOS 2.4 is also timed to spotlight new immersive video content from Apple. On April 4th, users can check out “VIP: Yankee Stadium,” an immersive look into the world of this iconic ballpark, from the perspectives of athletes to fans. Not long after, on May 30th, Apple will release “Bono: Stories of Surrender,” a documentary about U2’s lead singer, viewable either on a flat screen via Apple TV+ or through Vision Pro’s immersive format.
With these new features and improvements, Apple continues to enhance the Vision Pro headset, making it not just a gadget but a portal to a broader, more engaging digital experience.
