EA and Maxis have a treat lined up for fans who have been with the Sims franchise since its early days. As part of the celebration marking the series’ 25th anniversary, they have announced the re-release of the original Sims games, and guess what? They are available for purchase starting today.
There were whispers that EA planned to bring these nostalgic titles back to life on PC by the end of January. True to these rumors, the games have officially been released on January 31, just in time for the weekend.
These re-released classics, titled The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, are accessible through the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. For those die-hard fans, there’s also a special Sims 25th Birthday Bundle that packages the two together.
Highlighting their appreciation for long-standing fans, EA mentioned, “In honor of our legacy, and to celebrate the incredible fans who’ve journeyed with us, we’re bringing back two beloved titles. Dive back into the worlds where it all began and revisit iconic characters, like the sneaky burglar and the unforgettable Sunny the Tragic Clown. It’s a chance to relive the nostalgia and magic.”
The pricing details are set, with the full bundle at $39.99, The Sims: Legacy Collection at $19.99, and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection at $29.99. On the expansion side of things, most of the original packs that defined early gaming experiences are included. However, it’s a small bummer that The Sims 2’s IKEA Home Stuff pack didn’t make the cut.
But fear not, because the games still come with a couple of holiday packs and the H&M Fashion Stuff pack for your shopping escapades. Additionally, each re-release is bundled with bonus content from The Sims 4: the Throwback Fit Kit accompanies the first game, while the Grunge Revival Kit is paired with the second.
So, why not step away from the quirky ‘meme jacuzzi’ zone on EA’s special Sims Y2K website? Dry off those meme-softened fingers and explore these new releases if you’re in the mood for a nostalgic trip down memory lane!
