According to the latest buzz, fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement from Xbox Game Studios about the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This excitement stems from the ongoing rumors about what new offerings the next iteration of Nintendo’s portable home console will bring.
During a chat with his co-host Rand al Thor 19 on their podcast, well-known insider NateDrake spilled the beans about Microsoft’s big plans. He mentioned hearing that in 2025, Microsoft aims to expand its horizons by bringing both Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. (Check out the Nate the Hate Podcast around the 53-minute, 48-second mark for the scoop.)
NateDrake highlighted Microsoft’s enthusiasm in backing the Switch 2. “Once the Switch 2 is out,” he shared, “Microsoft will be quite active in transitioning their current Switch lineup with updates and enhancements. So, you can expect games like Grounded, Pentiment, and the Ori series to make the jump to Switch 2 with those shiny 4K updates.”
He went on to suggest that titles like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush might also find a new home on the Switch 2. “Keep your eyes peeled for more Microsoft titles on both Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 in the future. However, I’ve specifically heard that Flight Simulator and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are set for a 2025 rollout.”
As for what the Halo: The Master Chief Collection port will encompass, it’s still up in the air. There’s no confirmation on whether it will just feature the primary games — Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 — or if it might also include later additions like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach.
While the rumor mill continues to churn, what we know for certain is that Nintendo has committed to unveiling the successor to the Nintendo Switch before March 2025. They’ve also assured fans that the new hardware will support backward compatibility with existing Switch games.
As we inch closer to the big reveal set to happen before March 31, 2025, anticipation grows for a global release sometime during 2025.
