Immerse yourself in the delightful world of HoneyLand, crafted by Remix Games and Afil Games, where you embark on a charming adventure with Mr. Fluff, a bear with a hearty appetite for honey. Here’s our review of HoneyLand!
Step into the vibrant world of HoneyLand—a picturesque island teeming with whimsical charm, where honey aficionados come to satiate their cravings and find joy. Who else could make an appearance here but Mr. Fluff, our lovable bear with an insatiable hunger? Join him on his journey to devour all the honey and eventually reach the legendary honey volcano!
In this casual puzzle game, your mission is to guide Mr. Fluff to every honey pot available. The gameplay is refreshingly simple: each level provides you with a set of move cards, and your challenge lies in selecting the right combination to reach your destination. Should your plan go awry, a quick restart is always an option. A helpful feature I enjoyed is the blueprint preview for each move, which shows your future position before you commit.
The game’s difficulty gently escalates, presenting a learning curve for newcomers. The initial levels, from 1 to 6, serve as an introduction to the game mechanics. By level 7, the puzzles become more intricate, requiring careful planning or a bit of trial and error. The complexity further intensifies at level 10, with a new ledge-jumping mechanic, and by level 20, collecting move cards scattered throughout the level becomes crucial, adding another strategic layer to the gameplay.
Visually, the bear model seems somewhat generic, reminiscent of a template asset, with a facial design that feels a bit off. However, this is redeemed by the clear and intuitive level layouts. Nevertheless, some later stages pose challenges with camera angles, particularly during jumps, which can be a tad frustrating.
For trophy hunters, HoneyLand offers a straightforward path to a Platinum trophy. The list comprises 6 Bronze, 8 Silver, and 8 Gold trophies, rewarded for milestones like completing the first 10 levels, restarting levels 15 times, and gathering move cards from level 20 onwards. If you’re gunning for that Platinum, check out the HoneyLand Trophy Guide to achieve this in about 30 minutes!
All in all, HoneyLand stands out as an enjoyable puzzle game with a satisfying difficulty curve. While the character design could use some polish, the cleverly designed puzzles make up for it. It’s an easy recommendation for those seeking a mentally stimulating puzzle adventure or a quick addition to their Platinum trophy collection. Available as a Cross-Buy title, your $4.99 purchase grants access to both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions without additional cost.
