UPDATE: Oct. 11, 2024, 10:25 a.m. EDT – The much-anticipated PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Limited Edition sold out in a flash across all major retailers on Thursday, Oct. 10 — Walmart included, despite their paywall. It didn’t take long for scalpers to start flipping them on eBay, asking for prices way above retail. Now, back to our original article.
Today marks the second wave of preorders for the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle, available through major retailers. This follows the bundle’s debut two weeks ago on Sony’s PlayStation Direct storefront, which sold out almost immediately.
Preordering was set to kick off at 10 a.m. ET, although Target briefly had their listing up overnight. For those worried about availability, signing up for Walmart+ might give you a leg up.

If you’re a paid (non-trial) member of Walmart+, you’ll get an early crack at preordering the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary bundle starting at 10 a.m. ET. Although demand will remain high, having that paywall could somewhat limit the rush and possibly keep scalpers at bay. Currently, there’s no mention of whether preorders will open up to non-members later.

$12.95 per month or $98 per year
By becoming a Walmart+ member, which costs $12.95 a month or $98 a year, you unlock early access to certain product releases along with various sales events. This week, for instance, they’ve got a Holiday Deals event running through Sunday, Oct. 13. It’s their answer to Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days and serves as the launchpad for Walmart’s holiday shopping season. On top of that, membership includes perks like free shipping, fuel discounts, travel savings, and streaming bonuses.
If you’d rather try your luck at other retailers, the PS5 Slim Anniversary Edition bundle will also be available at Amazon and Best Buy today.

Created to mark the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, this bundle comes with a sleek retro gray PS5 Slim console without a disc drive. It includes a matching DualSense controller, a separate cover for the disc drive, a vertical stand, and a few collectibles, retailing at $499.99.
Interestingly, this pricing matches that of a standard PS5 Slim with a disc drive — which, by the way, is on sale for $449 at Walmart as part of this week’s Holiday Deals event. It’s also $200 cheaper than the upcoming PlayStation Pro, Sony’s new mid-generation console. Like the PS5 Slim bundle, the Pro sold out on PS Direct, but it’s also going live for preorder at retailers today.
