You read that right—PlayStation Network (PSN) is down at the moment. This means that online services for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are currently unavailable. Looks like that gaming session you were planning will have to be put on hold for now.
The only official word we have so far comes from the Ask PlayStation Japan Twitter account. They’ve issued a statement, which I’ve translated into English using Twitter’s built-in tool.
Here’s what they said: “At this time, the PlayStation ™ Network (including PlayStation ® Store) may not be available. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers. We are currently investigating the issue and working to restore service, so please be patient.”
Basically, Sony is aware of the issue, but there’s no indication yet of when things will be back to normal. So, for now, all we can do is hang tight. The timing couldn’t be worse, though. The Monster Hunter Wilds Open beta is going on right now, so as Xbox and PC users dive into the action, PlayStation gamers are left on the sidelines. And even if Wilds isn’t your thing, hey, it’s the weekend! This is prime gaming time, especially for those of us who have a packed schedule during the week. Fingers crossed this outage doesn’t last too long.
