After Iron Meat’s impressive debut in September, the creative folks over at Retroware have been busy planning exciting updates to enhance their nostalgic yet modern masterpiece.
Now, with the first major update hitting Xbox, players can dive into a fresh batch of content that’s sure to capture their attention!
One highlight is the much-anticipated Mirror Mode. This new feature allows players to tackle each level from a fresh perspective — moving from left to right. Although this might sound straightforward, it completely reimagines your strategy with each nemesis, boss, and environment. To unlock this mode, simply make it through the game once on any difficulty!
An exciting update is the introduction of the automatic Supercharge upgrade — the “third” tier in weapon enhancements. When activated, all of your projectiles will sport a sleek red hue, replacing the typical blue or green tones. If you’ve already maxed out one or two of your guns, collecting a third will enable this Rapid Fire upgrade, transforming your arsenal visually and functionally!
Alongside these updates, there’s a welcome change regarding extra lives. Any extra lives gained during a level are now yours to keep as you enter the next one. This means if you’ve managed to boost your lives by the end of a level, you’ll carry them forward into the next!
Level backgrounds haven’t been left out. Certain stages now feature additional visual flair that deepens the storytelling within Iron Meat’s universe. From helicopters strafing Meat monsters in the Forest to the impactful visuals of Meat meteors on the Train, these enhancements add a subtle but significant layer to the game’s narrative.
On top of everything, other tweaks have been made. We’ve amped up the damage of the “E”, “U”, and “M” guns, added more challenges to the Moon Base, and refined the Mi-24 helicopter boss fight patterns for better clarity, among others. Each level is now also slightly adjusted to provide a fairer playing experience — enemies like Meat worms and Meat Mouth Doors can now be taken down as soon as they appear.
These updates are just a taste of what’s on the horizon for Iron Meat. We’re thrilled to keep enriching the game with fresh content in future updates. So, if you haven’t already, jump into Iron Meat, now available!
