Just over a month since Warhorse Studios launched the massive medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, they’ve rolled out a significant update — Patch 1.2, that landed on a Thursday morning. It’s now up for grabs on Windows PC and PS5. Xbox Series X|S users are in for a bit more wait, but worry not; Warhorse assures that it’s on its way and will arrive shortly.
Now, this patch isn’t just another run-of-the-mill update. Weighing in at a hefty 62.5GB, it brings a staggering “over 1,000” fixes and tweaks to the table, addressing pesky bugs and rebalancing various elements of KCD2’s gameplay. While none of these changes might single-handedly revolutionize your experience, together they certainly polish the game, giving it a much smoother edge. There’s a link to the exhaustive patch notes if you’re inclined to dive deep, but let’s touch on what stands out.
The headlining feature of this update has to be the addition of the barber. Finally, you can change Henry’s look, swapping out his default crew cut for something fresh, or giving him new facial hair if his baby-faced vibe isn’t cutting it for you. Barbers can be found in Zhelejov and Kuttenberg, so wherever your adventures take you in the game’s vast maps, a new hairstyle is always within reach — just bring along some groschen.
Among other notable fixes, there’s a solution for that annoying audio stutter on PS5 and a fix for the bizarre sky texture flicker occurring on consoles. Xbox Series S players also benefit, with a fix for annoyingly blurry inventory icons. Quests have not been neglected, with plenty of bug fixes aimed at ensuring side quests no longer stop your progress in its tracks.
In the grand scheme, Patch 1.2 serves as a fantastic update, especially after Hotfix 1.1.2, which left fans hanging. Warhorse promised big with a tease of “34 pages of patch notes” for this update, and it’s gratifying to see that promise fulfilled with today’s release.
Looking ahead for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, there’s a whole lot on the horizon. According to the game’s roadmap trailer, a more challenging Hardcore Mode, along with horse racing, is set to debut later this spring. If it’s anything like the original game, Hardcore Mode will turn up the difficulty with permanent negative perks and make combat tougher while doing away with helpful on-screen indicators and making everything a bit more expensive.
Plus, there’s an exciting lineup of DLCs planned for summer, fall, and winter. In summer, we’ll meet “a mysterious artist with an enigmatic past” in Brushes With Death. The winter will bring Legacy of the Forge, featuring Henry stepping into the shoes of a master blacksmith, followed by a mysterious plague-centric narrative in Mysteria Ecclesiae.
With all these planned additions, it looks like 2025 is going to be a stellar year for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. On a roll after an exceptional launch, it has cemented its place as a Game of the Year contender, hitting significant sales milestones effortlessly. With continued support from Warhorse through updates, fresh features, and new story expansions, the game keeps getting better.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available right now on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG), and PS5. If you’re into RPGs, this is one you shouldn’t miss — especially at $48.59 over at CDKeys, it’s a deal that’s tough to resist.
