Jagex, the creator of RuneScape, has announced Jon Bellamy as their new Chief Executive Officer. He steps into the role previously held by Phil Mansell since 2017. Bellamy is no stranger to Jagex, having been part of the company from 2015 to 2018, where he contributed to the strategy and M&A team. His career journey has also seen him take on roles at London Venture Partners and Huuuge Games. At Huuuge, he dedicated nearly five years, ultimately serving as Chief Commercial Officer.
Bellamy’s breadth of experience doesn’t stop there. He has offered his expertise as an advisor to companies like Pixion, Kohort, Stealth, Maximillian, and notably, CVC—one of Jagex’s owners. Since October 2024, he has already been playing a leadership role as a board member at Jagex.
Reflecting on his new position, Bellamy shared, “Taking on the leadership of Jagex is truly an honor, especially with a game franchise as beloved as RuneScape. It means a lot to so many, myself included. I’m really looking forward to teaming up with the talented people here, whom I got to know well during my time on the board. Together, we aim to keep our games at the top of their class globally. In these initial days, I’ll be digging into our goals for Jagex and will soon share my broader vision with the RuneScape community.”
On his part, Mansell expressed his sentiments, “After an amazing 14 years leading RuneScape and eight at the helm as Jagex’s CEO, it’s time for me to pass the leadership torch to Jon Bellamy. Working with a team as incredible and passionate as this one, we’ve grown tremendously and solidified Jagex’s place as a pioneer in community-driven games. I’m thrilled to hand over the reins to someone who deeply values our games and business just as much as I do. I’m eager to see how Jon will build on the strong foundation we’ve set.”
