The indie XR studio, The Binary Mill, has exciting news for PSVR 2 owners. Their space-themed mining venture, “Into Black,” which has been exclusive to the Quest platform since its October launch, is expanding its horizons and will now be accessible to a wider audience on PSVR 2.
In this immersive game, players can either dive in solo or team up with friends in a four-player co-op. The objective is simple but thrilling: scour for resources, upgrade your gear, and fix your ship across more than 20 levels infused with distinctive, ever-changing environments. As you traverse these terrains, you’ll face formidable opponents while striving to gather enough materials to make a daring escape from a hostile alien planet.
For those seeking competitive play, the PSVR 2 version introduces the new ‘Singularity’ mode. This is a PvPvE setup where up to 12 players can compete in an online battle of wits and skills. The Binary Mill describes it as a challenge that requires players to form temporary alliances, navigate a shrinking labyrinth, and collect as much treasure as they can. However, caution is key—overreach, and you might not make it out at all.
“Into Black” has undergone significant enhancements for this release. Expect revamped environments, improved lighting and shadow effects, HDR, and advanced haptics courtesy of PS Sense’s adaptive triggers and the PSVR 2’s headset rumble feature. These elements promise a richer, more engaging virtual experience.
As of now, there’s no confirmation on whether players on PSVR 2 will be able to cross-play with those on Quest. The development team is being approached for further details on this front.
Eager players are still anticipating a comprehensive trailer to see these upgrades in action. For now, though, a few images and some brief animated snippets give a taste of what’s to come. Despite the absence of a specific release date, The Binary Mill is aiming for a “soon” launch. Until then, interested players can add “Into Black” to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
