Intel’s XeSS technology has now been integrated into over 150 gaming titles, with XeSS 2 just beginning its journey.
Intel made a bold move by being the first discrete GPU maker to introduce super-sampling through its inaugural Intel Arc Alchemist series. This innovation, dubbed XeSS, was launched over two years ago and has gone through numerous developmental phases, culminating in the current XeSS 2. Although not widely adopted yet, the initial version, XeSS 1.0, and its more recent updates have found their way into a considerable number of games. Intel proudly announced that their XeSS technology is supported in over 150 titles and more are expected to follow.
The complete list of XeSS-supported games includes a selection of popular modern triple-A titles. However, XeSS is still catching up to AMD’s FSR and NVIDIA’s DLSS in terms of competitive edge.
Intel’s Gaming division has been vocal on social media, stating, “We’ve hit the mark on 150+ games with #XeSS support, with more on the way!” This highlights how Intel is keen to push its AI-driven upscaling technology to enhance the gaming experience further.
Despite the progress, Intel has some ground to cover in relation to its competitors, though they are in a better position now than before. It’s important to note that most of the titles support XeSS 1 and its iterations, with XeSS 2 yet to become widespread. Currently, only two games, F1 2024 and Marvel Rivals, feature XeSS 2. Fortunately, there are more titles in the pipeline, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Killing Floor 3, that are expected to embrace the latest from XeSS.
Furthermore, some games do support Intel’s XeSS Frame Generation, but it’s not as broadly accessible as FSR and DLSS Frame Gen options. XeSS 2 and Frame Generation require Intel Arc Battlemage GPUs, with just two models available so far—Arc B580 and Arc B570—which are quite hard to find.
In summary, while Intel’s XeSS project has made significant strides, there’s still a journey ahead in the rapidly evolving world of gaming technology.
