Combat Waffle Studios and Beyond Frames Entertainment, the masterminds behind the VR survival shooter Ghosts of Tabor, have exciting news this week. They’re releasing a new VR game into early access that draws significant inspiration from 2018’s hit, Rust.
Spoonfed Interactive, in collaboration with Combat Waffle, is introducing GRIM, a game that promises to deliver the intense multiplayer survival experience reminiscent of Rust. This game will be available for PC VR and Quest users starting this month.
In GRIM, players will find themselves on a resource-depleted Mars, engaging in a gameplay heavily focused on crafting and scavenging. Mars, with its history of failed colonization, serves as the backdrop, offering a vast array of settings to explore. The initial version of the game becomes playable for those with SteamVR headsets and Quest this Thursday, January 16th.
Once marooned on the Red Planet, players in GRIM will face harsh weather conditions and countless abandoned outposts ripe for looting. Survival won’t come easy; players must carefully manage their health, ensuring adequate levels of hunger, hydration, and oxygen. Build what you can, though remember that everything resets come the server’s next weekly wipe.
Beyond Frames Entertainment has stepped up once again to publish Grim, following their successful partnership on Ghosts of Tabor. Combat Waffle Studios is lending essential development support to Spoonfed Interactive, which notably runs as a one-man studio.
The creators describe the Early Access Alpha of GRIM as “the beginning of a collaborative development journey,” mirroring the community-centered approach seen with Ghosts of Tabor. They invite early players to share feedback, which will be crucial for refining the game’s mechanics and overall trajectory.
From January 16th onward, eager players on Quest and SteamVR can dive into Grim’s Early Access Alpha for $20, marking the start of what promises to be an exhilarating adventure.
