Fallout: New Vegas fans have reason to be excited, as John Gonzalez, the game’s lead writer, has made his way back to Obsidian Entertainment. Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Gonzalez clarified that, despite his return, he’s not involved in working on a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas. His initial stint with Obsidian spanned from 2008 to 2011. Before that, he was honing his skills at Ubisoft in Shanghai for over two years.
After his time with Obsidian, Gonzalez took his talents to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. There, he spent two-and-a-half years shaping the narrative for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor as the lead narrative designer. He then ventured to the Netherlands, joining Guerrilla Games, where he played a pivotal role as the narrative director for the acclaimed Horizon: Zero Dawn. Not stopping there, he spent almost three years contributing his narrative expertise at Smilegate’s Barcelona studio.
But Gonzalez’s creativity isn’t confined to the gaming world. He’s also branching out into the literary realm, with a novel titled God Mode: Single Player set to release in 2025. This expansion into writing further showcases his storytelling prowess across different mediums.
