HOOP-O Studios, an upcoming indie game developer focusing on mixed reality experiences, has just revealed their latest project, Alex and the Jets. This unique remote-controlled dogfighting game is set to debut on Quest 3 next month.
This game is a casual arcade-style flying adventure where players guide Alex the Squirrel in his tiny, propeller-driven aircraft. As you navigate the skies, you’ll face off against airborne adversaries from a rival group known as ‘The Jets’. These foes suddenly appear, bursting through portals in your walls, challenging you to take them down while you skillfully maneuver through donut-shaped ring goals. These rings aren’t just for show; they offer exciting boosts for your weapons and health.
But the fun doesn’t stop at combat. Alex and the Jets also includes a free roam mode, perfect for flying around and exploring without any pressure. You can expect to find local leaderboards, which add a competitive edge by letting you see how you stack up against other players. Plus, there’s a cosmetics store where you can unlock stylish new looks for Alex.
One of the intriguing aspects of this game is the authenticity of its trailer, with gameplay footage actually captured directly through the headset’s camera. This transparency gives players a glimpse of the real in-game experience and showcases HOOP-O’s confidence in their creation.
Although a specific release date hasn’t been locked in, the studio is aiming for an April launch on the Horizon Store, with the game being available for Quest 3 and the upcoming Quest 3S. Keep an eye out for this innovative blend of reality and arcade action!
