A brand-new update for EA Sports FC 25 has just landed today, January 16, and along with it comes the exciting reveal of the game’s Team of the Year squads. Interestingly, there’s no other news making waves in the gaming world at the moment.
Last week, voting opened for this year’s Ultimate Team (UT) Teams of the Year. Hopefully, you got your picks in on time if you wanted to see your favorite players featured. Whether or not your chosen players made it, EA has definitely given you a good incentive to dive back into FC 25.
You’ll find the finalized Team of the Year XIs for both the men’s and women’s teams in the graphics shared in the tweets below. These visuals do a fantastic job of highlighting each selected player, so I won’t name them all here—though you can check them out if you’re curious.
The highly anticipated TOTY cards are starting to arrive on January 17, with attackers leading the charge. Midfielders will follow on January 19, and then defenders and goalkeepers will join in on January 21. Expect the complete TOTY rosters to be available in the Ultimate Team pool from January 23 to January 31. Plus, a 12th male and female player will be added on January 24 to nicely round out the lineup.
Alongside this, EA has rolled out what’s being called a “gameplay refresh” for FC 25 today. According to the developers, it’s the “most significant mid-season gameplay overhaul we’ve ever made based on your feedback.” No pressure for them, right?
For those eager to see all the details of this update, they’re laid out clearly in the latest Pitch Notes. The key improvements include major changes to essential gameplay mechanics such as passing, shooting, goalkeeping, and defending. They’ve also addressed some issues, like defenders catching up to dribblers too frequently. The result is more fluid offensive gameplay, making it easier to move the ball around, as well as a reduction in tacklebacks and AI interceptions.
