The legal drama involving Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, and Palworld’s developer Pocketpair is still in full swing, yet Palworld’s development team seems unfazed, marching forward with new content despite the ongoing courtroom tussles. In a surprising twist, they’ve announced a collaboration with the beloved sandbox game, Terraria, set to drop in 2025.
The news came through on Palworld’s social media channels, accompanied by a tantalizing piece of promotional artwork. While details on what this crossover will entail are sparse, it definitely has our curiosity piqued.
But that’s not all. Alongside the crossover announcement, Pocketpair has more in store for their community. This December, they’re rolling out a brand-new island teeming with fresh creatures and challenges. They’re touting it as the “largest, harshest, and most mysterious” yet to grace Palworld. For those familiar with the game, this new territory is reportedly about six times larger than Sakurajima. You can catch a glimpse of what awaits in the screenshots below:
🚨 Major update coming in December! 🚨 Challenge yourself on the biggest, most mysterious island yet in Palworld! It’s going to be a sprawling expanse, far larger than Sakurajima. And by the way, Palworld is currently 25% off—perfect timing to gear up for this massive update! pic.twitter.com/f2AwDjNGXt — Palworld (@Palworld_EN) November 28, 2024
Though the initial buzz around Palworld has simmered down since earlier this year, it’s still holding its ground as a fan favorite. The survival crafting game, often compared to Pokemon due to its similar creature capture mechanics, boasts an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating on Steam with thousands of daily players—not to mention its popularity on Xbox and the recently added PS5 platform.
If Terraria ends up integrating Palworld-themed content in 2025, it would be a noteworthy addition to Re-Logic’s game, which, despite the developers having hinted at moving on, seems to keep evolving since its 2011 launch.
In other news linked to Palworld, it appears some fans were less than thrilled about the game’s lack of recognition at The Game Awards. The game’s community manager had to step in, urging everyone to keep calm. Moreover, there’s been some chatter about Light of Motiram—a cheeky Horizon-inspired game with backing from Tencent—which leads some to draw parallels to Palworld’s own controversial ties to the Pokemon franchise.
