Bungie has officially unveiled its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, giving us our first proper glimpse of the gameplay. Set to launch on September 23rd, 2025, for the Xbox Series X and Series S, this game promises an exciting experience for players.
In Marathon, you’ll step into the shoes of a Runner—cybernetic mercenaries each equipped with unique skills. Players can form teams of up to three, working together to confront hostile AI defenses and compete against rival Runner squads. As you explore, you’ll gather weapons, implants, and equipment, and any loot you secure during successful missions stays with you for future adventures.
Players are tasked with entering zones where the main objective is to gather loot and make it out in one piece. Various dangers, including AI guards and competitive teams, await you, demanding strategic handling. And for those who enjoy more of a lone wolf challenge, there’s the thrilling solo mode—take on groups by yourself and claim all the treasure alone.
