Exciting news has emerged for PlayStation enthusiasts who enjoy vibrant and imaginative games. Astro Bot recently snagged a coveted award at the BAFTAs, securing the prestigious title of Game of the Year. This victory is particularly noteworthy as Astro Bot surpassed impressive contenders like Helldivers 2 and Balatro.
The celebration didn’t stop there; Astro Bot also clinched several other accolades, picking up awards for Audio Achievement, Animation, Family, and Game Design. This echoes its success at The Game Awards last year, where it similarly triumphed over formidable competitors in 2024.
During the award ceremony, various team members accepted the accolades, and Nicolas Doucet delivered a heartfelt speech. He gave a nod to the dedicated team based in Japan, expressing gratitude for their commitment and passion. “We genuinely appreciate everyone in Japan who poured love and care into this game daily. Our focus was always on crafting an experience that would brighten players’ lives, without any thoughts of accolades,” Doucet shared.
He also extended thanks to key contributors and partners, highlighting the composer, the PlayStation team, and everyone involved in bringing other beloved games into the Astro Bot universe. Additional acknowledgments went to the BAFTA academy, the developers’ families, and the pioneering video game creators of the past.
