Assassin’s Creed Shadows is off to a strong start, drawing in a sizable player base and receiving positive reviews, much to the relief of those who might have been doubtful after its numerous delays.
Recently, the Ubisoft team responsible for Shadows took to Reddit to show their gratitude to the fans. They appreciated the community for focusing less on the heated debates that have surrounded the game over the past year. A lot of the discussion stemmed from valid concerns about how Japanese culture was represented, and the controversy around a black samurai character. Adding to the complexity, Ubisoft’s future plans have also been somewhat uncertain.
Nevertheless, it appears the Shadows team values the game’s subreddit as a space to gauge player opinions since its launch. They shared a heartfelt message attributed to the Shadows developers, stating, “This weekend, many of us on the Dev Team spent time reading your reactions across the Assassin’s Creed subreddit — and we just want to say thank you. The sheer amount of love and positivity we’ve received has been incredibly heartwarming.”
They continued, “Seeing your excitement, thoughtful reactions, and joy has meant the world to us. After years of hard work, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching the community connect with what we’ve created. While we don’t reply directly, please know we’re listening. The entire Dev Team has been reading your posts — the celebrations, the feedback, the theories — and it’s been inspiring. It fuels us. And it helps us keep improving.”
The team concluded their message with gratitude, “Thank you for being part of this journey with us. This is just the beginning for Shadows, and we’re thrilled to see the game evolve with you by our side.”
To wrap it all up, they included a playful nod to a well-known phrase from the series: “Where other men blindly follow the truth, remember…nothing is true.” Seasoned fans will recognize this from the credo of the assassins, proving it’s always a good time for a bit of humor, even when the conversation turns serious. It harks back to a scene in AC2 when Ezio hears those words just before an unpleasant experience involving one of his fingers.
If you’re eager to share your thoughts with the developers sooner rather than later, consider diving into the world of mods. Enthusiastic fans are already offering solutions and enhancements, so you might find just what you need to tailor the game to your liking.
