Square Enix has revealed that the upcoming season of Foamstars, aptly named “Party Goes On!”, will be the final one for this lively multiplayer shooter. The season is slated to run from December 13, 2024, to January 17, 2025. Once it wraps up, the development team will stop producing new seasonal content for the game.
However, this doesn’t spell the end for Foamstars. Even as seasonal updates draw to a close, the game will remain accessible and, in fact, receive some exciting new features. When the next season concludes, Square Enix plans to roll out expansions aimed at enhancing the overall gameplay experience. Expect to see customizable shot options for each character along with fresh enhancement elements. According to Square Enix, these updates aim to ensure that players can keep enjoying the game for many days to come, indicating that Foamstars isn’t going anywhere soon.
After the curtain falls on the “Party Goes On!” season, a fresh series of in-game events known as the Foamstars Cup is set to take center stage. This event will replace the current Ranked Party Tribe-Vibe and Ranked Party Lonestar formats with two new leagues: Foamstars Cup Freedom League and Foamstars Cup Legend League. Each league will be named after a specific Foamstar and will rotate every four weeks, offering rewards such as items and special icons themed around the featured character. Both leagues will be active on a daily basis.
Moreover, following January 17, 2025, players will have the opportunity to access previous Foamstars Season Passes. This move will allow both new and veteran players the chance to progress through specific Season Passes at their leisure without any additional charge. It’s important to note that only the basic Season Pass remains complimentary, while the Premium Pass will still require payment. Additionally, players have the option to purchase specific tiers within a Season Pass to unlock certain rewards.
The structure of challenges in Foamstars will undergo some changes as well. The current Limited Time challenges will transform into Event challenges, and this category will be split into a Daily Challenge, updated every day, and an Event Challenge, refreshed each Saturday. While weekly challenges won’t see much change, they’ll now update every four weeks instead of the usual five.
Initially launched in February 2024 for both PS4 and PS5, Foamstars received mixed reviews, earning a 57 metascore on Metacritic. It was part of the PS Plus offerings in February 2024 and later became available for $29.99 on the PS Store. In August, the game transitioned to a free-to-play model, making it accessible to an even wider audience.
