So, the old-school Elder Scrolls fans in my office are throwing a party over today’s Oblivion Remake stream, while the rest of us, who are more intrigued by what’s coming next, got a little nugget of hope about The Elder Scrolls 6. Yes, Todd Howard actually mentioned it might still be happening, even confirming that the team is indeed working on it.
He dropped this little hint right before diving into some juicy details about the Oblivion Remaster. His exact words? “Obviously we’re working on the 6th chapter here.” Not a lot to go on, but it’s something.
This is the biggest update about The Elder Scrolls 6 since March 2024. Back then, Bethesda let us know that some early builds were out for testers. They even threw in a hint that it might, gasp, be fun to play. One can only hope, right?
Before that, the last we heard was from a former Skyrim designer in October 2023, suggesting we wouldn’t get any substantial updates until six months before the game’s release. About a month prior, Phil Spencer cheekily predicted we were still five years away from seeing ES6 hit the shelves. It seemed amusing at the time, but here we are, almost two years later, still with scant information.
In terms of official updates from Bethesda, things have been silent for what feels like forever. Back in August 2023, they did confirm that development had started, though that came five years after the initial buzz at E3. It’s almost like they might have jumped the gun with that early announcement, don’t you think?
All jokes aside, it’s refreshing to catch even a snippet of Elder Scrolls 6 news. I mean, I was still in school when they first mentioned it, and now I’m out navigating the real world, complete with grown-up responsibilities and dating apps. I’m confident Bethesda, the kings of first-person RPGs, will deliver something fantastic. But couldn’t they at least throw us a bone with some concept art or a teaser? It’s like we have less evidence of this game’s existence than Liam Neeson did of his daughter’s in “Taken.”
Anyway, drop a comment and let us know how you’re feeling about all this. And while we’re at it, anyone want to bet how much further my student debt will balloon before Elder Scrolls 6 actually sees the light of day?
