Yorutouge is an unusual and colorful virtual playground where Vocaloid music takes center stage in a VRChat experience. Crafted by VR_SMEJ, and featuring the works of composer Kikuo, Yorutouge invites users to immerse themselves in a vibrant 20-minute musical odyssey. This online space promises an energetic escape, providing a lively reprieve for those seeking light in the haze of daily life. According to the creators, the goal was to offer a spirited interlude for visitors feeling overwhelmed or burdened.
At the NewImages Festival 2025, hosted by the XR Market, I had the chance to dive into this experience first-hand. Among 14 immersive projects vying for attention in the XR Competition, Yorutouge stood out, drawing me and four others into its unique universe. We started our journey in a mystical cave, which quickly transformed into a surreal stage for a high-energy visual and musical trip. As Kikuo took his position as DJ, the group explored five energetic tracks, each accompanied by a vibrant setting that evolved as the beat intensified.
What sets this virtual world apart is the all-encompassing nature of its visual elements. The effects envelop the entire space, crafting mesmerizing spectacles not found in your average night out dancing. However, those prone to epilepsy should take caution. The seamless flow of tunes and the positive atmosphere add to the thrill, further enhanced by meticulously designed environments that constantly surprise and delight.
