The game industry recently witnessed a significant shift as The Molasses Flood, a game development studio based in Boston, integrated with the acclaimed Polish company, CD Projekt Red. As announced on their website, as of April 1st, The Molasses Flood ceased to operate as an independent entity and has now become part of the team behind Cyberpunk 2077. Notably, this transition will not impact their earlier titles, such as The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which were created before CD Projekt acquired the studio in 2021. Currently, the team is busy developing Project Sirius, a multiplayer game within The Witcher universe.
This new chapter comes with another change: Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has decided to step away from the studio. Reflecting on his departure via LinkedIn, he acknowledged the impact this change brings. He expressed immense pride in his journey over the past decade with the studio, noting how they thrived in a market that’s often unfriendly to smaller teams. Damian shared how rewarding it was to contribute to creating unique and unforgettable projects, alongside some of the most talented and generous individuals he’s met in the industry.
