Starting April 25, Days Gone Remastered will roll out on PlayStation 5, offering an enhanced gaming experience with its array of new modes and features, optimized for the PS5 and PS5 Pro. With new game modes like Horde Assault, Permadeath, and Speedrun, the excitement doesn’t stop at PlayStation; these will also be available for PC users through the Broken Road DLC. Whether you’re hopping on the Drifter bike for the first time or revisiting, there’s plenty of fresh content and surprises waiting for you.
One of the highlights of Days Gone Remastered is the introduction of the Horde Assault mode, a thrilling survival arcade addition. But aren’t you curious to see it in action? Check out the gameplay trailer—it’s one of our most ambitious updates yet.
### Escape the Horde
Horde Assault challenges you with increasingly larger hordes and various foes, including Breakers, Reachers, and Rager bears. The longer you survive, the tougher your enemies become. This mode offers a unique look at the world of Days Gone, built around the idea that “This World Comes For You.” Prove your skills in this endless battle and show the freakers who’s boss.
The action begins in Cascade, armed with just a sidearm. Your first goal? Navigate the swarm of Freakers and make it to your Drifter bike. Keep an eye out for Supply Boxes scattered across the map; they contain more than 20 types of weapons, including a flamethrower that’s been newly added for this mode. These boxes are a lifeline when facing the relentless hordes.
As you fight for survival, completing Side Jobs will help refill resources and earn extra XP, crucial when ammo is scarce. If you manage to survive a full half-hour, brace yourself for the Ultimate Horde, a relentless wave of enemies you must face head-on. We’ll leave the rest for you to discover.
### Gear Up and Battle On
Progress through Horde Assault to unlock new characters and cosmetic patches, along with Injectors that can drastically alter gameplay. These Injectors come in two varieties: Positive Injectors lift your score but up the challenge, while Negative Injectors decrease your score but aid survival with unique perks.
For a taste of what’s in store, Exploding Freakers and the Wanted Injector provide exciting twists—like Freakers exploding on death or starting you at max threat level for a tougher challenge.
There’s a 35-level Reward path to explore, with new skins and patches reward players alongside new characters like O’Brian and Lisa. Existing fans will recognize favorites returning. Patches are purely cosmetic but will transfer over to the main story for a lasting effect. Among the Reputation Phase rewards is an item fans have long requested. Any guesses? It involves your bike.
### Start Your Journey
Although Horde Assault is essentially end-game content, it’s accessible right from the start of Days Gone Remastered. If you’re new to the world, we recommend starting with the story to get a feel for the mechanics, though nothing stops you from jumping straight into the fray with these massive hordes. This mode alone adds over 10 hours to an already content-rich package, promising a thrilling gaming experience.
