For the past few weeks, I’ve been caught up in the buzz surrounding Verdansk’s return to Warzone and started to worry that maybe this excitement would overshadow what Black Ops 6 Season 3 had to offer, especially for those of us who love multiplayer and Zombies content. Boy, was I wrong! It’s clear that Call of Duty continues to pull out all the stops. Everyone, including myself, is eager for Verdansk to make its comeback, fueling the Warzone frenzy. But Black Ops 6 isn’t taking a backseat; this season promises to pack quite a punch, particularly with the introduction of a brand-new Zombies map: Shattered Veil. Treyarch recently unveiled details about this map, and exciting news for fans includes the return of the Ray Gun Mark 2, alongside a classic Wonder Weapon and a well-loved perk.
Fans of the Zombies mode have felt a bit let down in recent years, so the current developments in Black Ops 6 are a comforting surprise. Once Shattered Veil makes its debut, players will have five round-based Zombies maps to enjoy in Black Ops 6—a number that’s definitely noteworthy. The map is set in the scenic hills above Liberty Falls, leading players to the Colton Hall mansion. This mansion holds S.A.M., an AI-inspired giant Pokéball primed to aid in uncovering the mysteries of the Sentinel Artifact. Visually, it’s an impressive map, combining the eerie beauty of a sprawling, worn-down manor with the high-tech aesthetic of a research lab hidden underground.
Inside Colton Hall, players will also get their hands on two fan-favorite weapons from COD Zombies. First up is the Ray Gun Mark 2, known for its burst-fire capabilities, standing alongside its classic laser-firing sibling. Also making its return is the Wunderwaffe DG-2, the unforgettable Wonder Weapon known for electrifying Zombies with chain lightning.
Additionally, a cherished Perk-A-Cola makes its return: Double Tap. This long-absent perk surfaces in Shattered Veil, complete with a western-themed vending machine. For those not in the know, Double Tap revs up your weapon’s firing speed, offering a quicker path to dealing damage but at the cost of faster ammo consumption. While Double Tap is earning a special vending machine in Shattered Veil, it’ll also make its presence felt in other maps through the Wunderfizz machine.
Prepare for new adversaries in Shattered Veil, which includes two fresh enemy types ready to test your mettle. First is the Elder Disciple, boasting mage-like prowess and capable of summoning additional undead. They can also evolve standard Zombies into formidable foes unique to Black Ops 6. Watch your distance, though—if you get too close, their shriek will push you back. Then there’s the Toxic Zombie, whose sole mission is to charge at you and unleash a deadly acid when near. Eliminating them from afar is your best strategy.
The map is also equipped with Microwave Traps that zap any undead daring to cross their path. Plus, the beloved Death Machine joins the list of scorestreaks for some destructive fun when it’s powered up.
Mark your calendars, as Shattered Veil joins Black Ops 6 Zombies at the kickoff of Season 3 on Wednesday, April 2. With less than a week to go, it’s a great time to dive back into Black Ops 6 and revisit the current maps. Or, hone your skills with some top zombie and FPS games.
