As the PlayStation Vita fades into the annals of gaming history, reminiscent of tears vanishing in a downpour, some of its notable titles are finding new life on current platforms. One such gem is the 2012 action RPG, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny, which is poised for a fresh remaster soon. Interestingly, this marks its debut in the West, but despite its original ties to the PlayStation handheld, it won’t be making an appearance on any PlayStation devices this time around.
Now simply known as Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered, this title is transitioning from its PS Vita origins to the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with a release date set for May 22. Like any good remaster, it will breathe new life into the over-a-decade-old game by offering enhanced graphics, a modernized user interface, new gameplay elements, and for the first time, English localization.
The remastered version also comes packed with several quality-of-life updates to enhance the gaming experience. These refinements include advanced tuning options, an improved mission selection process, and a convenient lock-on mode. Want to see the revitalized classic in action? Be sure to watch the trailer below for a sneak peek.
Players will take on the role of a soldier navigating turbulent times, choosing allegiance with one of three factions: Earth Alliance, Z.A.F.T, or Archangel. They’ll engage in diverse story missions anchored in series-defining moments from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, and side stories such as Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: STARGAZER. With a selection of over 100 mobile suits, players can customize their mechs to dive headfirst into exhilarating Gundam battles.
For those who are loyal to the PlayStation ecosystem but also own a Nintendo Switch or gaming PC, good news awaits. Preorders for the PC version are already up and ready, while Switch preorders are slated to become available soon.
