Shiftall, a forward-thinking company from Japan known for their MeganeX PC VR headsets, stirred interest at CES 2025 with their reveal of two innovative VR control accessories. They’re introducing a new SteamVR-compatible controller for PC VR, along with an intriguing add-on to enhance Quest Touch controllers, providing additional buttons and a scroll wheel for users.
### GripVR
Shiftall is gearing up to launch its own GripVR, a standard PC VR controller specifically designed for SteamVR Tracking systems like 1.0 and 2.0. This controller comes equipped with a familiar button layout, featuring AB/XY input buttons, clickable joysticks, triggers, and grip buttons, all enhanced with capacitive touch sensors for improved interaction.
With an impressive battery life of around eight hours, the GripVR charges via a USB Type-C port. As with all SteamVR tracked accessories, GripVR is expected to work seamlessly with a variety of SteamVR headsets, including the Valve Index, HTC Vive, and of course, Shiftall’s very own superlight MeganeX “8K”.
Set to hit the market sometime this summer, Shiftall is aiming to price the GripVR between $299 and $399, making it a competitive option for VR enthusiasts.
### AddCon
Alongside GripVR, Shiftall proudly announced AddCon, a novel after-market attachment designed for the left-hand Touch controllers of Quest 3/3S/Pro. By adding a scroll wheel and additional buttons, AddCon aims to simplify interactions with 2D UI elements and provide more control options for experiences like VRChat.
What’s particularly intriguing about AddCon is its shift function, which uses a capacitive sensor on the pinky rest. This clever feature allows users to toggle between various command sets with ease.
Shiftall positions AddCon as a must-have for users seeking extra control in VR environments, such as tweaking camera angles or managing avatar functions in VRChat. It offers over 14 assignable inputs, all customizable through a dedicated PC application. This app doubles as an OSC command transmitter for standalone VRChat setups.
AddCon connects to the Quest through Bluetooth LE or by using a GX6/GX2 dongle, and it also charges via USB Type-C. It shares a similar summer 2025 launch period with GripVR, but comes with a more accessible price tag of $69 for the standalone left-hand accessory.
These announcements come on the heels of last year’s unveiling of Shiftall’s cutting-edge MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset, which boasts a slim, lightweight design with dual 4K OLED panels, and is anticipated for early 2025 at $1,899. With these additions, Shiftall continues to demonstrate their commitment to pushing the boundaries of VR technology.
