Tango Gameworks, the well-known Japanese developer, is contemplating the possibility of creating a sequel to their 2023 title, Hi-Fi Rush. In a conversation with IGN, studio head Colin Mack expressed an interest in moving forward with the project, but he was careful not to make any concrete promises about a follow-up.
“We are looking favorably upon the idea of a sequel,” Mack revealed. “However, we haven’t reached a point where we can definitively say, ‘This is what we’re going to pursue.’”
Adding to the discussion, Hi-Fi Rush’s director, John Johanas, shared that the team holds a deep affection for the game, which fuels their consideration of potential directions. “Many of our team members have a great deal of love for Hi-Fi Rush, so we feel there are options on the table. At the moment, we’re in the stage of exploring various possibilities.”
Kazuaki Egashira, the project manager, emphasized that Tango Gameworks thrives on creating fresh and innovative experiences. “Hi-Fi Rush gained popularity as a new intellectual property, but if it remains unchanged, it risks becoming outdated,” they pointed out.
Egashira continued, “I believe that the essence of Tango Gameworks is embracing new challenges. I hope to keep supporting an environment where developers are at the heart of what we do, ensuring we don’t lose our fervor.”
