Xbox Insiders just got some exciting news! They now have the ability to stream their owned games on consoles using Xbox Cloud Gaming. This update comes alongside access to some top titles from the Game Pass library. While the number of compatible games hasn’t expanded, those with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription can now stream select titles on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
In the newest iteration, Microsoft has taken Xbox Cloud Gaming a step further for Xbox Insiders. This perk is available to those in the alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha preview rings. Right now, there are 50 non-Game Pass games that you can stream through Xbox Cloud Gaming. According to a post on Xbox Wire, Insiders in these preview rings can stream their owned games not only on Xbox consoles but also on PCs, phones, and tablets across 28 countries. As a reminder, you’ll need an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription to join in on the fun.
Interestingly, console streaming wasn’t on the radar until next year, so it’s a delightful surprise to see it drop earlier than expected. For those testing the waters, supported games now sport a cloud gaming badge in the library on your Xbox. You can even filter your collection by “Ready to play” and “Cloud gaming” to keep things organized.
Microsoft has hinted that future updates will allow launching games directly from the Store app and include streaming through the Xbox app on Windows PC.
When this feature initially launched last month, Ultimate members were allowed to stream certain owned games through web browsers. As of now, 50 games are offered, featuring popular choices like Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
We’re eagerly anticipating this feature being available to all players, possibly by 2025. What are your thoughts? Are you eager to stream your favorite Xbox Series X|S games using Xbox Cloud Gaming? We’d love to hear from you, so share your thoughts below!
