There’s a fresh 30th anniversary video from PlayStation making its rounds, and it seems to be playfully teasing all those fans eagerly awaiting a Bloodborne remaster.
When it comes to first-party PlayStation titles, few games are as clamored for in terms of remasters as Bloodborne. It’s practically the PlayStation equivalent of fans demanding “Smash?” every time there’s a Nintendo Direct. You can count on at least one person chiming in for a Bloodborne remaster or remake during every State of Play or major announcement. And who can blame them? It’s one of my top games, too. While I’m not usually bothered by frame rates, those dips in Bloodborne can be a real struggle during intense gameplay. So, are there any signs of a remaster? Not that I’m informed about, but the new PlayStation video thanking fans hints that “persistence” might just pay off—if you choose to interpret it that way.
The anniversary video kicks off with text stating, “If you know the story you know it’s about…” which then rotates through words like “love, friendship, wonder” paired with clips from major PlayStation franchises like Uncharted, Shadow of the Colossus, and yes, even “fantasy” alongside Final Fantasy 7, for those who were wondering.
What’s particularly amusing about the video is how it wraps up with Bloodborne and the phrase “it’s about persistence.” Now, whether that serves as a cheeky nod to a potential remaster or simply overlooks how it might be perceived by eager fans is up in the air. It’s entertaining, no doubt, but I wouldn’t hedge my bets on this hinting at anything significant. Besides, it’s Bloodborne 2 that we truly need.
