What’s New Technically?
Popular YouTuber Austin Evans has delved into what’s different between the 2020 version of the Xbox Series X and the latest Xbox Series Digital Edition. Key upgrades include a newly designed heatsink system and a revamped motherboard. Notably, the new design does away with the SSD shield that was present in the earlier models.

Evans went on to reveal that the new Series X houses a more compact 6nm System on Chip (SoC). He shared some insights about power efficiency as well. The original 2020 Xbox Series X model consumes 61 watts when idle, compared to just 51 watts for the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition, and a notably lower 38 watts for the Digital Edition during idle periods. When running Forza Horizon 5, the power consumption varies, with the Xbox Series X drawing 167 watts, the Digital Edition at 156 watts, and the Galaxy Black Special Edition at 151 watts.
