A player of The Sims 4 recently experienced a bizarre situation where their chicken managed to kill the Grim Reaper. This unexpected twist left the player puzzled and amused the community, with many admitting they had no idea such an incident could occur in the game.
The Sims 4 has been exploring themes around life and death, particularly with its latest expansion pack, Life and Death. This addition allows players to embody the Grim Reaper amongst other new content. However, this strange encounter with a chicken isn’t linked to the expansion.
A Reddit user shared a screenshot capturing the shocking moment their evil chicken, a feature from the Cottage Living expansion, intervened in the Grim Reaper’s duties. Normally, when a Sim meets their end, the Grim Reaper comes to claim their soul, but this time, things took a hilarious turn. The player’s vampire Sim had died, and as the Grim Reaper arrived, the chicken sprang into action, preventing it from completing its grim task. The image depicts the chicken boldly standing between a floored reaper and its intended victim.
So, what’s the deal with these evil chickens in The Sims 4? Introduced with Cottage Living, chickens in the game act predictably unless they’re evil, which requires special breeding or transformation. Although their dark feathers and glowing red eyes might seem ominous, these mischievous birds are protective of their owners. Once asked for help, an evil chicken fiercely defends their Sim against threats, including the Grim Reaper.
If the Grim Reaper is killed, the game will eventually dispatch another to finish the job. However, merely incapacitating the reaper can lead to a peculiar situation where the chicken relentlessly attacks it each time it rises, trapping the dead Sim in limbo. A simple solution is to temporarily store the chicken in the player’s inventory, allowing the reaper to fulfill its duty.
This particular player wasn’t ready to part with their Sim, so removing the chicken wasn’t the most desirable option. Luckily, other ways exist to resurrect departed Sims or negotiate to save them from the reaper’s grasp. While an evil chicken can’t perform miracles, it might just buy enough time for players to either bring back their Sim or persuade the Grim Reaper to spare them.
The Sims 4, which launched on September 2, 2014, has continually offered players the chance to unleash their creativity in shaping unique Sim worlds. Whether it’s designing stunning homes, exploring new environments, or managing the ups and downs of Sim life, the game provides endless storytelling possibilities. Published by Electronic Arts and powered by their proprietary engine, The Sims 4 has remained a staple in gaming for creating endless fun and unexpected moments, like when a chicken gets the jump on Death itself.
